How does ED medication actually work?
A lot of men have heard about erectile dysfunction medication and its "merits". But, very few actually understand how it works. It is usually a good idea that if you are planning on taking any medication, you have at least a vague idea of what it does and how it works with your body. Usually, you would just go and talk to your doctor about this, but since this is the Internet, there are better ways to find the information. Here is a primer on how erectile dysfunction medication actually works.
First, we must understand what an erection actually is. When men get sexually aroused, the brain sends a signal to the blood vessels around the man's body, especially the ones around his penis, that he is getting aroused. Usually, the blood vessels in his penis are small, relatively "constricted", and allow blood to freely flow in and out. When the signal is sent from the brain to the penis that sexual activity may be taking place soon, the blood vessels start to grow a little, allowing more blood to enter the penis and make it stiffer. Along with that, the brain sends a signal that the blood should stay in the penis and not go back, which usually happens. This caused the erection to stay constant. Think about it as if it were a balloon being blown up.
When the sexual activity is complete, the signals are reversed, the blood is allowed to drain out of the penis, and the blood vessels return to their normal state. Sounds simple enough, right?
In reality, it is a lot more complicated than that, but the above example is one that most men can actually understand.
Now, when men have erectile dysfunction, it can mean any one of many things. It can mean that the brain is not sending the right signals, that the muscles around the blood vessels are too tense, or it could mean something else.
When erectile dysfunction does is allow the muscles around the blood vessels to relax and allow the blood circulation to occur more easily. It basically relaxed everything and allows the blood to move around your body and into your penis more effectively. This clearly solves the problem for men.
But, the truth is, erectile dysfunction medication only really works for about 1 in 3 men. It is not a one size fits all solution. There are many different things that actually cause erectile dysfunction. The ED medication, like Tadalafil and Sildenafil citrate, only really help the issue of muscle relaxation. If you do not have a problem with that and it is something else that is causing your erectile dysfunction issues, you will have to go and see a doctor for an alternative medicine.
Now that you know the basics of how erectile dysfunction mediation works, you can be confident that next time the issue comes up, you will have some knowledge on it and will be able to make an informed decision.
