How to Take Medicine
This medicine should be taken orally with water. You can take this medicine with or without food, but you should make sure that you take it regularly. Never take more of your medicine than specified and do not stop taking the medicine, unless advised.
If this medication is being used by a child then seek a paediatrician's advice before proceeding.
If you have taken more than your required dose, then contact your doctor without delay.
Never let anybody else take your medicine.
Missing a Dose
If you miss a dose, then do not worry, just resume next dose as normal. Never take more than one dose to make up for a missed dose.
If I Want To Take This Tablet What Should I Tell My Doctor?
Your doctor should be aware if you have any of the following conditions:
- History of dipolar disorder
- Kidney or liver disease
- Heart disease
- If you are receiving electroconvulsive therapy
- Seizures
- Suicidal behaviour
- Allergies
- If you are trying to get pregnant or are pregnant
- Breast feeding
Drug Interactions
Under no circumstances take this medication with the following:
- Various diet drugs
- MAOI's
- Medicines similar to Paroxetine
- Phenothaizines
- Procarbazine
- Pimozide
- St John's Wort products
- Tryptophan
You should also tell your doctor if you use the following:
- Aspirin
- Digoxin
- Cimetidine
- Medications used for headaches
- Medications used for anxiety
- Blood clot medications
- NSAID's
- Procyclidine
- Phenytoin
The safest way to approach this if you want to take this medication is to tell your doctor any medications, non prescription medications, herbs and supplements you consume. Also advise your doctor if you smoke, drink or use illegal drugs as these can interact with the medicine.
Precautions
Due to the reasoning of this medication, you will be required to make regular checkups to the doctors.
Do not worry if you do not feel better right away, medication like this can take up to two months to take full effect.
You should inform those close to you to watch out for sumps in mood or suicide thoughts. You can tell them to look out for feelings or anxiety, agitation, hostility, aggressive behaviour, hyperactive behaviour. If these symptoms occur then tell them to contact your doctor as soon as possible.
It is not a good idea to go cold turkey on this medication, even if you feel 100%. In this instance, you should talk to your doctor about the best way to cut the medication down.
If you want to take any additional medications, then inform your doctor.
You may find that your mouth gets dry, in this instance chew gum or drink additional amounts of water.
Side Effects
If you experience any side effects that are listed below then inform your doctor as soon as possible:
- Allergies
- Changes to your stools
- Blood in urine or vomit
- Loss of contact with reality
- Prolonged erection (men)
- Seizures
- Irregular heartbeat
- Mood swings
- Weakness or increased fatigue
- Unusual bleeding and bruising
- Change in the amount of times you urinate
- Vomiting.
You may find that these side effects are more common. Therefore, contacting a medical official about them is up to you:
- Fluctuation in weight and sex drive
- Insomnia
- Headaches
- Pains
- Tremors
- Increased amounts of sweat
- Drowsiness
- Constipation or diarrhoea

Storage
As with all medications keep out of the reach of children. Store at room temperature. If you still have some tablets left over then please dispose of carefully or hand over to your doctor who will dispose them for you.
